Extrinsic (Feedback) – Feedback provided by external sources during or after a performance

(Pronounced eks-trin-zik)

Note: Extrinsic feedback includes feedback from teachers, coaches and teammates.

Feedback provided by external sources during or after a performance

Extrinsic - think EX (external) feedback

Extrinsic feedback is often provided by three methods, verbal, video, or written. Verbal feedback is often delivered after a performance, involving a coach or teammate explaining strengths and weaknesses of the performance. Video is often prepared and presented later after a performance, where players are shown footage edited to highlight things they did well and where they could improve. Coaches and teachers can also provide performers with written feedback, a benefit to this being it can be stored and reviewed repeatedly at a later date.
