The Messiah – Literally "the anointed one"; to show the way
(Pronounced muh-sai-uh)
Note: Orthodox Jews believe that the Messiah will be a human person sent by God to establish justice and peace on Earth. For reform Jews, the Messiah is a symbolic figure. Jews believe that the Messiah has not been sent yet.
To remember the meaning of The Messiah in Judaism, use the following mnemonic:
I must hire (Messiah) a guide to show me the way to the mountain tops – an appointed (anointed) person, in fact, that one being anointed over there!
