Reading the notes on music lines
It is important to learn the notes on sheet music.
Notice how music works in octaves.
An octave is a musical interval consisting of 8 notes.
The eighth note in the scale is considered a repetition of the first but in a higher register.
This can be remembered by the following music mnemonic:
One of the eight tentacles of the octopus waved (octave) while the others held up the seven letters, A to G.
Pay particular attention to where 'middle C' is.
On a piano, the scale would appear like this:
