Music is written on staves.

In music notation, the staves (plural for both U.S. and U.K.) is a set of five horizontal lines:

There are five horizontal lines and four spaces between them:

Each line and space represents a different musical pitch.

You can recall that these lines are called a stave using the following mnemonic:
