Axon – cable that conducts electrical impulses
Axons are the long, thread-like extensions of neurones (often referred to as nerve fibres). They work like ultra-thin electric cables.
There was an axe on (axon) stage conducting an electric guitar orchestra. There were cables everywhere.
The axon conducts electrical impulses along its length, to the axon terminal. From there, the signal crosses a gap to the next neuron in the line.
