The sciatic nerve
The sciatic nerve is the longest individual piece of “wiring” in the human body. Its axon goes from the base of the spine to the big toe, and is around one metre long.
So that they could do their science in the attic (sciatic), the amateur boffins had to take a long wire from downstairs right up to their nerve centre of computers.
