Abiotic – Non-living
Non-living influences such as temperature, moisture, light, pollution etc.
The letter ‘A’ is often used as a prefix for words meaning non or not. So ‘A’biotic is not biotic (not living).
The letter ‘A’ tied in a knot (not) of rope will help you remember.
Examples
Pollution from factories and vehicles is an example of abiotic (non-living) factors that can affect the lives of organisms.
