A limiting factor is a restriction preventing population to grow

Limit factories (limiting factors) was the chant from protestors who wanted to restrict production of pop (population).

Light can be a limiting factor for plant growth on the floor of a forest as the canopy of taller trees cuts out the sun’s rays.
