Ionic Bonding
- Is the attraction of elements due to a difference in charge.
- Takes place between metals and non-metals.
Ionic Substances
- Exist as solids (crystals) at room temperature.
- Dissolve in water.
- Conduct electricity when dissolved in water.
Because salt (sodium chloride) is an ionic compound, when you come across ionic bonding think of salt.
