How to work out Indices (powers/exponents) on a calculator.
First always try simple numbers you know first
What is `2^2` ?
And we know it is `2\times2=4`
Now on a calculator
Always try this easy one first so that you know you are pressing the correct buttons.
Enter `2`
Press `x^y` button
Enter `2`
Press `=`
Answer: should be `4`.
Now you can go onto more difficult powers.
Example 1
Put in `4^10` on a calculator
(Remember this is `4xx4xx4` ……. Ten times)
Enter `4`
Press `x^y` button
Enter `10`
Press `=`
Answer: should be `4^10 = 1,048,576`
