`a^n=(a)(a)\ ...\ ...\ .(a)`
To remember this try simple numbers you know first.
So something we know here is `10^2`
`10^2=10\times10=100`
`10^8=10\times10\times10\times10\times10\times10\times10\times10`
`10^8=100,000,000\ (100\ million)`
Further example
`x^3` is the same as `x\times\x\timesx`
Or `(x)(x)(x)`
