Ornaments – The embellishments of a melody, either by adding notes or modifying rhythms
(Pronounced or-nuh-muhnts)
Note: rhythm means a pattern of sounds of different lengths.
Use the following mnemonic to remember what ornaments means:
The shiny ornaments (ornaments) were hung on the music to embellish the melody.
Examples of ornaments used in a sentence
The guitarist used ornaments throughout the song.
I added some ornaments to the solo.
The composer was careful to not add too many ornaments to the piece.
