Scratching – A DJing technique where two decks are required. One deck plays a track whilst on the other, rhythmic patterns are produced by pushing the record forwards and backwards
(Pronounced scra-ching)
To remember what scratching is, use the following mnemonic:
The cat was scratching (scratching) the record in a rhythmic pattern.
DJ scratching is a technique used to manipulate and create sounds using vinyl records and turntables. It involves moving the vinyl record back and forth against the turntables stylus (needle) to produce a range of rhythmic and percussive sounds.
