Analogy – a comparison
An analogy is a comparison in which an idea or a thing is compared to something familiar.
An allergy (analogy) to children is what the show’s compere (compare) had.
Examples
Life is like a box of chocolates – you never know what you’re going to get!
(This begins with a simile, “Life is like a box of chocolates”, but it is an analogy because it gives further support and explanation for the comparison, showing that life has many choices and surprises, just like a box of chocolates.)
A relationship without trust is like a cell phone with no service.
That’s as useful as rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.
