Alexander Calder Art Project

To create an Alexander Calder mobile you need two metal wire coat hangers, some cardboard, and some ribbon or string.

Cut off the hooks with strong wire cutters.

Cut one of them in half.

Flatten out the wire.

Cut one of them in half.

Now bend these three pieces so they form a small loop in the middle.

With some needle-nose pliers, create a loop at each end of the wire.

Now join the three elements together using ribbon so they move easily in any air currents.

Now join the three elements together.

Make some fabulous coloured shapes out of cardboard.

Next, cut out the shapes, punch a hole through each shape and tie some ribbon or string to make a loop though each hole.

Loop these onto the structure to make a mobile.

Hang the whole thing and let the air move them around.
